Ascent Trip Report

Clear skies, but muggy conditions make for tough hiking. The five of us arrived at the trailhead at ~930 after camping the night at the Big Rock campground on the Kanc. Made good time to the summit of Little Haystack including a side trip down to the Shining Rock (not worth it unless you plan on hanging out down there for lunch). We ate at the summit of Little Haystack, then proceeded to summit Lincoln then Lafayette. Heading to the summit of Lafayette there was a plane towing a glider that was making circles around the summit. It was coming so close we could hear the wings cutting through the air. From the summit of Lafayette back to the car it was much slower going as we were tired and Bruiser had twisted his ankle as well as the fact that we took a long break at the Greenleaf Hut to snack and get more water. We arrived back at the car at around 430 then headed back to the campground for some steak tips and dueling. Great Day!!!
