Ascent Trip ReportWe left the PA at 6:00 AM on the only overcast day of the week. We started to take the Kelso Ridge to Torreys first, but after clearing the first class three section at 12,800', I downclimbed and suggested that we take the standard route. I felt completely comfortable with the moves, but was concerned about how I would feel on the knife edge since I was quite lightheaded near the summit of Elbert the day before.
After backtracking to the main trail, we made good time and kept a steady pace to the top of Grays. There were about fifteen people at the summit. We proceeded down the saddle and reached Torreys just as a mountain goat had left the summit. The return trip was uneventful, and we made it to the car by 1:00.
