Ascent of Mount Jackson on 2011-08-22| Date: | Monday, August 22, 2011 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Mount Jackson | | Location: | USA-New Hampshire | | Elevation: | 4052 ft / 1235 m |
Ascent Trip ReportForecast called for clearing weather throughout the day, so we attemped a presi traverse that we'd been denied the past 2 weekends with bad weather. It never got better. Started with Jackson and the trail up was a RIVER... so wet and a big mess. Summited in a cloud and continued to Mizpah hut where we saw the forecast had deteriorated. Decided to continue to Pierce and Eisenhower and see how we felt. Made good time up both of those peaks, but through the clouds we got glimpses of the surrounding area and saw darker clouds moving in. Super windy too, so we decided to call it a day after Eisenhower. Disappointed to shorten the day, but the traverse would have SUCKED in these conditions.
