Ascent Trip ReportMy friend Dan and I decided to descend Missouri via the East Ridge, which has four class four sections. This is recommended only for ascending, though we did not know this at the time. We unknowingly went down an even more difficult way (high 5's, without rope) and came within a razor thin margin of our lives. We threw down all of our equipment, including my boots and socks, for better movement and chance to succeed. Our bags bounced down between 1/2 mile and 1 mile on the steep scree slope below before coming to a stop. We prayed together, acknowledging God's sovereignty over our lives, and then gave it our best. I give God all thanks and credit for bringing us down alive and eventually home to my wife and son. I ought to be dead today, outside of God's grace.
