Ascent Trip ReportStarted at Bumpass Hell trailhead (I call it "Bumpass Heck" in polite company) near Helen Lake in Mt. Lassen National Park. Left trail at the saddle just before dropping down to Bumpass Heck's boiling fumaroles and smelly gaseous emanations. Followed Bumpass Mtn's ENE ridge from saddle to summit. Class 2. Less than 3 miles round trip and 600 feet of gain. Has an inspiring view of Mt. Lassen above and the hot springs below.
