Ascent Trip ReportFollowed trail to Ridge Lakes that starts at the unsigned trailhead just to the right of the bathroom at the Sulfur Works/Ridge Lakes parking lot. At Ridge Lakes, head north up into the large bowl that is just to the left (west) of the Mt. Diller high point. Near the summit ridge, go right following one of several climber use trails to the final summit rocks. Mostly a steep sand and ash climb the last few hundred feet with a little class 2 in the rocks just below the summit. Three miles round trip and 2100 feet of gain.
Don't bother trying to make it a rock climb (as I first tried) by going straight for the summit rocks. The near-vertical volcanic rock that make up Mt. Diller's south and east sides are extremely loose and horrendously dangerous.
