Ascent Trip ReportThe well used trail climbs/winds westerly to the south-east ridge, then on the western side of the ridge to the summit ....... 5km, 2:35 hours RT.
For my trip to Tenerife I got a copy of the excellent guide book "Rother Walking Guide, Tenerife" by Klaus and Annette Wolfsperger. Conde is hike #27 ..... refer to this guide for a more detailed description of this trip.
This is the 7th day of our 19 day Hiking Trip to Tenerife. From the Autostrada TF1, exit 27, at north end of Los Cristianos, we traveled north on TF28/TF51 to Arona, just past "4km Marker" we turned left on the road to Vento, large sign "Roque del Conde". We followed the road westerly to a left on Calle Vento (again signs points the way "Roque del Conde"), turn right into the driveway between house #76 & #78, Roque del Conde looms to the west, this is the TH, we parked on Calle Vento.
From the TH the well used/marked trail crosses 2 small drainage gorges before crossing a much deeper/rougher gorge. Once out of this gorge you arrive at a signed "Camino Natural" trail junction, Ifonche points right, Roque del Conde to the left. I continued on the Conde trail, past an abandoned casa with a round threshing yard where the trail starts its climb/zig-zag up the eastern slopes to the southeast ridge, then traverses towards the west before it climbs/zig-zags north to the summit plateau and on to the summit ..... capped with a round post on a concrete base (2.5km, 1:25 hours).
You are rewarded with outstanding views throughout the climb and in all directions, luckily I had a fairly clear day. Up high on the horizon is Sombrero de Chasna and Pico del Teide, of particular interest to me however was my next destination, straight ahead, Roque Imoque and Roques de Los Brezos.
I backtracked/descended in 50 minutes after a nice break, meeting up with 3 ascending groups. The day was still young so we moved on to Imoque/Brezos.
