Ascent of Granite Mountain on 2011-01-23| Date: | Sunday, January 23, 2011 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Motorized Transport to Trailhead: | Car | | Peak: | Granite Mountain | | Location: | USA-Washington | | Elevation: | 5629 ft / 1715 m |
Ascent Trip ReportAscended the avalanche gully (took a left and headed straight up the mountain) and did not take regular summer switch back trail to avoid being caught in an avalanche or other dangerous terrain conditions. Another party took the "regular" route, but this is not advised and it risky during such conditions. Very windy, cold, and snowy.
