Ascent Trip ReportAs far as I can determine, Herman Point is the 5th highest named summit point in Pennsylvania. The road to the summit is paved, but it is blocked by a locked gate 1/2 mile from the top. The topographic map shows the highest point to be just west of the first group of summit communication towers. My GPS lead me a quarter mile north across the summit ridgeline to reach the summit coordinates, but I could not determined if I was any higher. I had to hike through a land of thick, high ferns. It was actually quite pretty, but it was not easy travel. No summit vistas are available anywhere due to the thick forest on top.
