Ascent Trip ReportAs far as I can determine, Vought Rock is the 9th highest named summit point in Pennsylvania, although it could be argued that this area is only a geologically named site and not an actual summit. However, the top of Vought Rock does sit several feet higher than the surrounding area; even higher than the closed contour line across the road shown on topographic maps. Vought Rock offers no summit vista since it rests just inside the woods directly west of the road and the surrounding area is quite flat, but it is interesting to ponder how such a boulder got here. It actually looks out of place compared to the geology of the immediate area.
