Ascent Trip ReportRoyce Mtn is kind of a drive up but it may be easier to hike the last .2 mile because it is overgrown with young fir trees.
I approached from Hwy 58 and turned on the signed Cascade Lakes Hwy. Zero your odometer, go 3.1 miles and turn left on the Cascades Lake Hwy. At 6.5 miles turn left twards the Maiden Lake trailhhead, and at 6.6 miles turn left on a good gravel road, at 10.4 miles turn left, and at 12.2 miles reach the summit. The last .2 mile is overgrown with fir trees.
There are no views from the summit because of the trees. I wandered around the forest near the summit area looking for something distinctive, but it is kind of flat and wooded. Not very exciting.
