Ascent Trip ReportWe drove down Tarleton Rd to a parking lot and parked there. There was a mailbox marked "Maps" but there weren't any maps inside it. After getting our stuff together, we took a left down the old woods road.
The road was very easy to follow. It passed by things such as trailheads, old foundations, and road forks.
After a short while, the road forks. We took the left fork. The incline wasn't really steep, and the road went slightly up and down. After some more hiking, the road curved and started to pick up in grade.
After a few minutes, we got to the col between Neville Peak (1,191 ft/363 m) and Nottingham Mountain. The road continued to Neville Peak. We took a short break where I took some video and drank some water. My dad (who I was with) gave me a quick rundown on how to use a compass because we were going to need it to get to the highpoint. After that, we continued down the road, found a place from which to bushwhack, and went on to the summit.
We eventually reached the summit. It had rocky patches surrounded by woods. We were walking around a bit and found a road/trail, so we followed it.
The road/trail winds around the mountain to a viewpoint that contains the remains of an old stone chimney and an outhouse. On the way, I saw an owl in the wild for the first time and got a picture of it. After checking out the chimney and outhouse, we went back to the summit to eat, drink, and bushwhack down to the road, which we took back to my truck.
