Ascent Trip Report

This is an incredible hike for views- from the mountains and lakes to the wildflowers, especially the latter.

The road, while 10 miles or so are dirt, is in great shape and poses no issues for standard cars. The trail 1122 is easy to follow. At the pass over the ridge of Flat Top Mountain, there is a use trail which begins to east, but quickly disappears. Fortunately, the terrain is wide open and it is easy to follow the ridge. The final valley in the ridge still had snow, but was easily traversed. The very top of the mountain (which is nearly flat) consists almost entirely of loose rocks. Fortunately the high point is clearly marked with a large (6'+) cairn.
