Ascent Trip Report

Nice hike from Adirondack Loj. I was camping there, which was very convenient - just walk from the tent to the trailhead.

Trail is pretty flat for the first mile, then gets progessively steeper, before mellowing out near the summit. Despite this, I thought the trail was pretty good, except for one quite steep (but relatively short) section. Similar steepness & distance compared to the trail for Giant, but I felt this one was easier (though with not as many views). Views from the summit however were magnificent, though we were sometimes in the clouds.

After we went down and made the detour to Wright Peak. A very nice summit too, and maybe even better views, since we were well below the clouds. Went to look for the plaque for the plane crash from 1962; never saw it though I did see some pieces of the plane still scattered about.

On the whole, a very pleasant hike.
