Ascent of Old Speck on 2011-08-05
|Date:||Friday, August 5, 2011|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||4160 ft / 1267 m|
Ascent Trip ReportRan up/down via the AT and the short side trail to the summit. Warm in the valley and humid the entire run. Maybe 2 dozen people on the trail, everyone in a great friendly mood. Must have been the sunshine and zero wind. This was my highest New England solo run...I've gone over 7,000 alone but that was out west. Anyway, the only rough part was climbing the ladder to the top of the observation tower. A bit scary coming down with grit and sweat on the hand holds. Added 5 minutes running at the end to get 8m for the trek. 1:06:50 up, 6:01 on top and 1:08:25 down (very careful with my footing).
