Ascent Trip Report

From New Mexico 518 I took Forest Road 442. The forest road is well maintained but slow going with numerous sharp turns and ruts but passable for a passenger car. It's slightly over 8 miles to the vicinity of the mountain. I drove up and down the road a bit looking for closer access, and finally parked at a wide spot in the road next to a steep track that heads up to the right. The area between the road and the peak is crisscrossed with numerous abandoned logging tracks. On the way up I tried to use some of these, but the best route is simply to follow a GPS track straight toward the high point--that's what I did on the way down. The flat wooded top does not offer any views.
