Ascent Trip ReportFrom I-78 in Newark, take the Elizabeth Avenue exit. Follow the long, well-signed ramps to Elizabeth Avenue and turn right. Go 0.8 miles and turn left into Weequahic Park opposite Stengel Avenue. Keep right onto the park road and park opposite the highly visible hill about 200 feet from the parking area. Divident Hill is crowned by a large, domed stucture with a hole in the top of the dome reminiscent of the Pantheon in Rome. On this date, the whole area was in a state of disrepair, overgrown with weeds, trash strewn everywhere, and large pieces of the structure broken off and lying on the ground. This is not the most prosperous neighborhood, and I would recommend visiting in broad daylight.
