Ascent Trip ReportFrom Dutchmen's Snow park to the South Broken Top summit and back was about 15+ miles. The hike typically starts closer, but due to snow and Cascade lakes rd closed on the weekends at this time, the closest we could get was Dutchmen's flat.
Elevation at Dutchmen's starts at 5,500'
Trekking conditions: Snowshoes were optional but helpful, Trekking poles made things easier, yaktracs helped in the morning on the hard snow, there was multiple creek crossings with a break through potential, didn't see and potential wet slides, but we hiked the ridges and stayed away from the low points, glissading was great for the descent.
