Ascent Trip Report

When approaching this hike, it is important to know that the topo map is out-of-date. The road going into the campground no longer exists. Instead there is a road continuing west from the summit saddle of US 89A. That road then has an offshoot that is the old road on the topo map leading up the trailhead. The last half mile or so is dirt, but passable for passenger cars.

The trail is also different, but stays close until about 8600', at which point the new trail heads north and down. It is easy to break from the trail there and head straight for the summit. There is a cairn and register at the summit.
