Ascent Trip ReportWe climbed this from the north: an easy route. We were staying at Erzincan (Eriza Boutique Hotel, very comfortable, good food, internet, N39.74574 E39.49052). Due to roadworks we took a long way round, following the D100 east to the Mercan turnoff (N39.73842 E40.26567) then following the main highway (a few turns, see saved track) as far as Baskoy, then a minor road leads SW towards the mountain. The paved road ends at small village of Esendoruk (N39.85380 E39.80697, 1925m) but continues as a good dirt road (3 streams to ford: our driver had no difficulty in a Ford transit van). Just beyond the last ford is a parking area by a nice mountain lake. Kesis is visible directly beyond the lake as the most distant peak. This is the trail head, at N39.80721 E39.75480, 2917m.
Walk back across the ford (stepping stones) then head directly uphill, following a stream then crossing it, reaching a larger lake, Kurban Golu. We followed the right bank of the lake then passed its far end and crossed some rocky undulating ground, heading for the base of the peak. We then followed a fairly good trail (steep, a little loose in places, a few cairns and signs) which reached the SE ridge. An easy 500m then led to the summit with a sign giving an elevation of 3549m; my GPSr read 3546 initially but after 30mins agreed with the sign. N39.79158 E39.77053. We had lunch, enjoyed the views and checked the various western summits with Bob's hand level which was consistent with the 1:100k map which put them around 30m lower than the summit we were on. We retraced our steps to the van then headed back to Erzincan.
Timings: trailhead 0930, summit 1230-1300, trail head 1530.
GPS track to follow.

Logistics: we were a group of 8 on an Ultra bagging trip arranged through Anatolian Adventures. They arranged accommodation, a guide/translator Burak Gülmez and a local mountain guide.
We had climbed Akbaba NW Top the previous day and our next target was Suphan near Van.
