Ascent of Mount Cabot on 2011-07-21| Date: | Thursday, July 21, 2011 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Mount Cabot | | Location: | USA-New Hampshire | | Elevation: | 4160 ft / 1267 m |
Ascent Trip ReportI accessed this peak from the Unknown Pond Trailhead on Millbrook Road. I picked up Millbrook Road from Rte. 110 in the town of Stark, and drove 4.5 miles on Millbrook and parked in a pull-out spot just after the second bridge.
I hiked the Unknown Pond Trail about two miles to Unknown Pond, and then turned right onto the Kilkenny Ridge Trail.
After making the hike over The Horn and The Bulge, I arrived at the summit of Mt. Cabot, marked by a sign providing its 4180' elevation. The trees completely block the view from the summit, but there is a use trail or two that lead to spots with limited views. I followed a trail toward an area full of dead trees where I got a little bit of a view toward the south and east.
