Ascent Trip ReportVery snowy year! We hiked this on the 4th of July, started from the trailhead around 4:45 am to help with keeping the snow a little harder in order to reduce post holing. The snow started 30-40 minutes below Red Pine lake - all lakes were still covered in snow and only had water showing around the edges. Brought up and used crampons and ice ax. They were useful especially on steep sections. Weather had some rain, but not electrical.
Ran into one mountain goat on the way up. After reaching summit enjoyed very long "glissades" down. What a beautiful hike!
About half way down started to run into a lot of people coming for day hikes into red pine.
