| Elevation:||5080 ft / 1548 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe drive up the Illinois River valley to the trailhead is beautiful. Parked at the McCaleb Ranch, which is a popular swimming hole, mostly, and walked up the road. Turned right and uphill at a junction, and eventually the road devolves into a good-quality trail. There is a shelter at the summit that was being restored when I was up there. If the gate were open, a good 4x4 could get you most of the way to the summit, but as it was this was a long hot walk.
