Ascent Trip Report

This is day 1 of 3 as Kaerstin and I do the Twins and the Bonds.

Started in cloudy yet dry weather around 10am. This is our first overnight-er of the year and we are packing 40 and 20 lbs, sure does slow us down.

We used the unofficial path on the east side of the Little River to skip the first 2 crossings. At the 3rd and final crossing we decided to take our socks and boots off and wade across the river instead of rock hopping. We wanted to be safe and not end up falling in the river just as we were starting out our adventure!

Once across the river the trail became much steeper and rockier. Although we stayed dry getting across the river, the rain / showers started soon afterward and we needed to get out our rain gear. We took it slow and reached the summit of North Twin at 2:00pm It felt good to get here, our half way point for the day. Took the detour to the "View" but there was not much to see as we were pretty much in the clouds.

The trip to South Twin using the N. Twin Spur went well and fairly quickly and we reached our second peak of the day at 3pm. We had some pretty good views down the valley.

We used the Twinway and Bondcliff trails to reach our destination for the day at the Guyout Campsite.

After setting up camp, enjoying our freeze dried supper and relaxing for a little bit, Kaerstin and I summitted West Bond to watch the sunset. Unfortunately, the clouds prevented us from seeing the sunset but we were thrilled at the views of Mt. Bond and Bondcliffs which are on the agenda for tomorrow!
