Ascent Trip Report

Started at roads end with group of 4 at 6:30, got to Charlotte creek at 9:00. The trail from Charlotte up is virtually non existent. Lots of thick brush and scree. Made it to the bowl between Charlotte dome and Gardiner around 12:00 There is a large swath of very recent avalanche damage coming down from Gardiner pass. We climbed the pass and walked the ridge and snow field to the top. The most of the group really started hurting climbing up to the pass and it was very slow going from there. Roped up for the knife edge and summeted at around 5:00. The can on top was there but no book or pin. Hurried down the mountain and ended up using head lamps to descend the below Charlotte dome. Very hard going without a trail. Got back to roads end at around 1:00. About a 19 hr trip, fun but very hard. First of the mountaineers peaks.
