Ascent Trip Report

I took FR 706 off US 64. It dead ends at the Taos Pueblo boundary, but 0.3 mi. before that you hit a gate and sign prohibiting further passage by motor vehicles. At the Pueblo boundary I headed left on the North Boundary Trail (in this section really a road). The road veers slightly south of the Taos Pueblo fence line. On the way out I followed the road and then bushwhacked about a third of a mile north back to the fence line. On the way back I followed the fenceline. This does require hopping several barbed wire fences. While the main Pueblo fence line is clearly marked with no trespassing signs, these were not--not clear whether they are pueblo or Forest Service fences. The high point is about 30 feet on the Pueblo side of the boundary line.
