Ascent Trip Reporthad difficulty finding the trail head; head to walk 1/2 mile down a bike path which was only vaguely indicated by the guide book. i didn't have as much energy as expected; elevation seemed difficult. it was misting on and off until shortly before the tent platforms on the Liberty Spring tr. a guy on his way down warned me about ice on the rocks up ahead. indeed, shortly thereafter, i found myself dodging ice chips melting from the tree tops. eventually i had to don my raincoat.
i stopped briefly at the Liberty summit, found the benchmark, and continued on with the ridge walk (mostly stubby trees) to Flume. met another female solo hiker named Chris at that summit and chatted for ~15 min before heading back over Liberty and down the Liberty Spring tr. stopped at the tent site on the way down to collect 2L of spring water before heading out.
the perceived shortcut to the parking lot didn't lead at all where i thought it would, so i put in extra mileage on the bike path again. followed out by a couple of guys who had also misplaced their car/lot.
