Ascent Trip ReportWoke up around 5:00 and quickly got myself ready. Met up with my dad by 6 and enjoyed breakfast together for Father's Day. He plans on doing Cascade with me and his grandchildren later this year. Had some errands to run after we ate and since I don't live really close to the high peaks, I didn't get to the Loj until 10:00. I kept the pace up past Marcy Dam until I reached the Phelps sign, a mile from the summit. Anyone that's climbed Phelps knows this is where the actual climb begins. Erosion here makes it even slower going and after about an hour from the junction I was at the top. Black flies at the summit made for some choice phrases but the views more than compensated. Met some people from Canada and their dog Jack. He barked a lot until I fed him some of my lunch but I don't think the owner appreciated that too much. I felt like telling her I had to find some way to quiet her dog since she wasn't doing it! Weather was perfect 70 degrees and blue skies. Was back to my car by 3:00 and home by 5:30. Number seven for me in my quest to become a 46er. Next week either Algonquin and Iroquois or the N-P Trial sections 4 and 5.
