Ascent Trip ReportHit the trail at 9am after original plans to do Jefferson didn't pan out. Will and Addie joined for our 2nd 4k footer. Will was dragging about a mile in but a couple granola bars seemed to the trick. Weather was perfect as well as the trail conditions until we hit the last .2 near the summit. Assuming those were the black flies I've heard about. We had to run to the summit, take the pic and bolt back down to escape them. Very unfortunate as the view looked outstanding. We will need to do a little more homework on repellants for the next one. Overall the hike was very enjoyable. Plenty of moderate ascent portions but nothing that my 8 year old couldn't work through. Had to boost the dog in a couple spots by the summit as well. We did not do the link over to Webster. If it was a 4k we would have but opted to not burn the extra calories.
