Ascent Trip Report

The road (Piute Mountain road) is actually a pretty good dirt road- I got my Honda Civic up to about 6200' with only a couple slightly questionable spots. And the questions were loose dirt on steep road, not rocks. One could easily drive a 4WD vehicle a stones throw from the summit. Unlike what is on the maps, the road now goes to within about 50' of the summit marked 8435' on the topo.

The actual highpoint requires a tiny and trivial scramble to reach the summit.

While I enjoyed the wildflowers, I got a late start and the hike up was rather warm. This hike is probably best enjoyed earlier in the season, or at least earlier in the day.
