Ascent of Storm King Mountain on 2011-06-11| Date: | Saturday, June 11, 2011 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Motorized Transport to Trailhead: | Car | | Peak: | Storm King Mountain | | Location: | USA-Washington | | Elevation: | 4750 ft / 1447 m |
Ascent Trip ReportBiked in from the Mineral gate. Pushed the bike up spur 220 (the one that switchbacks up the east side) until I hit snow at about 3400 ft. Snow was well consolidated and the only thing my snowshoes did all day, was add weight to my pack. By the time I left the trees at 4600 ft, the snow was 6 feet deep. The summit area was mostly clear though.
Scott Swanson, at West Fork Timber, says biking and hiking on their roads is fine. He did ask that folks call (253.383.5871) so that they know who's on their land.
