Ascent Trip Report

This is truly a killer hike- while the trail portion is difficult enough, after over 10 miles, the last little over half a mile is a grueling steep rock slope with no trail that gains over 1500'.

We were fortunate in that the snow had just cleared enough where there were only small patches on the trail.

There was supposedly a shortcut that went up to Bear Trap Meadow, saving some distance and some extra elevation, but we were not able to find it either ascending or descending.

Another challenge is the temperature differential - you can bake on the early part of the trail and freeze on the upper part.
