Ascent Trip Report

Carolina Mountain Club hike. Followed Mountain-to-Sea Trail W from NC 128 to Balsam Gap with a car shuttle back to the start. A nice hike with reasonable climbing--impressive rockwork by the trail gang as the MST skirts Potato Knob.

Most of the hike is above 6000 feet and enclosed by trees. No views and no BM at the summit.

If you're climbing Blackstock as an out-and-back hike, it would be about 4 miles roundtrip from Balsam Gap or 8 miles from NC 128.
