Ascent Trip ReportThe drive from Minneapolis was long with off and on rain most of the trip. No big deal, I was mentally prepared for rain and even hail, yet the possibility of tornados caught me off guard.
I started the hike like most, a fairly agressive pace (about 3 miles per hour) with the occasional stop for photo opportunities. However, within 30 minutes of leaving the car, the dark clouds, wind, rain and light hail had begun.
At this time I decided to kick my pace into high gear. This is nothing new, but the trail is loaded with boot catching tree roots and extreemly slippery rock which made fast travel downright unsafe.
Left Minneapolis at 5:00 am
Arrived trailhead: 10:12 am
Started hiking: 10:20 am
On the Summit: 11:28 am
Left Summit: 11:37 am
Back to car: 12:40 pm
Back to Minneapolis: 6:04 pm
