Ascent Trip Report

Ken and I was a bit tired on 5/22 morning perhaps because of Giant and Rocky Ridge Peak hike on 5/21. We were procrastinated in the morning and we finally started hiking around 8:45am which was a bit late start to cover Great Range. Since we're tired since morning, we didn't think we cover all 5 peaks in a day hike. So we changed the plan and we started to reach to Lower Wolfjaw instead of going Sawteeth directly. After we finish Lower/Upper Walfjaw, we decide what to do next. At the beginning, hiking was very flat along the E River. After taking Wedge Brk Trail to Lower Wolf Jaw, the trail became consistent steep ascent. Between Lower Wolf Jaw and Upper Wolf Jaw was also challenging for me as short person. Ken helped me a couple of times to hike up at ledges. Between Upper Wolfjaw and Armstrong was same thing. We could go to Gothics which is only 0.45 miles x 2, but, we decided to leave it for Sawteeth hike next time. Hiking out from Armstrong was also steep decsent. As rocks are all wet due to rain, I had to slow down and carefully step down on wet rocks. After all, it was very fun adventurous hike for me and I enjoy hiking over there with Ken. No winter traction is needed, although there are ice and snow at some sections of the trail.
