|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||14265 ft / 4347 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI repeated this peak with my wife, Suzanne, and our dog, Daisyette. It was Suzanne's second fourteener.
In the eighteen years since my first ascent, the standard trailhead had been moved from the south to the north side of the east ridge, but the basic route remained the same. It was a beautiful late summer day, so, of course, there were hordes of climbers in addition to us. When we got to the summit, in the early afternoon, there were probably at least two dozen other people there--something I had never before experienced.
Suzanne was still getting in shape for climbing, so it was a rather long day. We didn't get back to the trailhead until about 6 pm. Still, it was a very enjoyable hike. It was my first repeat of a fourteener, and yielded some nice photographs. We stopped on the way down in a meadow just above timberline, lay on the ground, and shared a can of Foster's lager we had brought, for a glorious finish to a beautiful day.
