Ascent Trip ReportA drive up to cemetery grounds with a 50 foot walk-up.
From road intersection of Main Street(25A)/Liberty Avenue south of Fort Jefferson we traveled west/south on Liberty .43 miles to the entrance of Cedar hill Cemetery, then 300 yards (staying right at a red brick building) to the crest of the road. Parked here and walked left 25 yards to the summit. My GPS read 40.93587, 73.06303, there are 2 "US Coast & Geodetic Survey Markers, 1883".
The beautiful Cedar Hill Cemetery, founded in 1860, has a lot of history, so plan to tour the grounds. The friendly attendant actually led me to the highpoint, he told me that a recent survey put the elevation at 280 feet.
