Ascent Trip Report

Forest Sevice Road 088 is to the left .6 miles north from where the pavement ends on Indian rte 1 at the Yomba reservation.
Follow FS088(high clearance vehicle) NW for 4 miles, passing a couple of cattle guards, to a left hand junction(7000ft elev) with a 4WD road heading westerly to the Bonita Canyon entrance. Follow this dirt road for .65 miles to a junction with FR328 approaching from the northeast. Continue west to the canyon entrance passing a cattleguard and a narrowing in the canyon .25 miles from 2nd junction. Continue up the canyon crossing a stream several times for another 1.6 miles to a two track dirt road off to the left and proceed up this road to its end at a saddle at 8400ft. The stream may be seasonal and it was no more than a foot deep. Note: All roads are dirt and would be difficult even with 4WD in muddy conditions. From the saddle head up to point 9674ft with some bushwacking. Then follow the ridgeline scrambling over some easy rock outcroppings to the summit. There is a summit register but the notepad was damp and illegible. Gave the ascent quality a 7 due to large snowdrifts along the ridgeline, under normal conditions I would rate it a 5.
