Ascent Trip Report

Traverse of the Southern Presis - Jackson to Washington. Plenty of snow still from 1/2 way up Crawford Path to Jackson & Pierce. Rest of day was mostly snow free on the ridge. Lots of puddles and wet feet though! Nice sunny day, but a bit breezy. Pierce, Jackson, Monroe and Washington. Climb up Washington was slow... Didn't have quite enough time to tackle Jefferson, so descended after Washington - down the Jewell trail. Less than a mile of snow below tree line, then clear and bare all the way to the trailhead!!! Nice hike. Picked up the bikes we stashed at Marshfield station and road downhill the 5 miles back to the Highland Center. Saw a giant moose right on the road! Dropped our bikes and backed away until he sauntered into the woods. A really nice day to be out!!!!
