Ascent Trip ReportMy first solo hike of a mountain in Lake George. My birthday hike. It was going very well up until I got to the junction which, if I took the left turn, would have brought me by Black Mtn Ponds and back to the trailhead. Well, because of an incorrect description of trail near here in B. McMartin's "50 Hikes of the Adirondacks" book, I took the wrong route at the junction. Ended up going at least a mile out of my way. Thank goodness I came across two fellas to redirected me on the right path. Lesson learned: bring a map! Other than that problem, it was a pretty good, moderate hike. Nice views of Lake George at the summit
