Ascent Trip ReportAKA Lefkas, the Lefkada island highpoint. We climbed this the morning after a rather snowy ascent of Óros Giona (Piramidha) . There is a parking space on the hairpin bend at N38.70248 E20.62819, 942m GPSr. The Satnav had taken us there the previous evening by a rather circuitous route, although the more direct-looking route back to the main road which we tried after the ascent involved some awkward narrow roads. Not an easy one to get to. Take a satnav - and a small manouvreable car!
In the cold light of morning the chosen attack point looked ideal - steepish grassy-looking slope with a hopefully-harmless rocky slope above. Initially there is a very short descent into a shallow rocky ravine; we headed R a little way then straight up, keeping L of tributary. The ground is quite stable, packed with wild flowers (as a special bonus there was a wallcreeper calling - a bird I've found only once before). Once we hit the rock slope we headed straight up an easy gully then the GPS pointed L to the summit (N38.69909 E20.62484, 1165m) which was reached in 30 mins from the car. The summit is marked with a cairn, a pole, a few outcrops and a small shrine, with a nice view down onto a village. After 10 minutes we headed down, reaching the car just 1 hour after setting out. Great little summit.
We then crossed the short bridge back to the mainland for the main business of the day, the Ultra Psili Korifi
