Ascent Trip Report

Beautiful spring day! Clear views for miles. Was headed to Presis, but got a late start so decided closer mountain was wiser. Did Liberty, Flume from Liberty Springs (parked at Basin and hiked the bike path to the trail head). Then back across to Liberty and up the AT to Little Haystack and across the rest of the Franconia ridge to Lincoln and Lafayette. Felt strong and climbed well most of the day, but was tired for Lincoln and Lafayette - gotta train for those late day climbs. Microspiked from start of snow half way up Liberty to Flume, then switched to snowshoes for back to Liberty and over to Haystack. Barebooted across ridge (almost all bare and dry, save a few shady sections). Ran out of water by Lafayette (winter is over - need to bring 3L on every hike from now on!). Bridle Path was a mess on the way down - fell hard and have huge bruise on my butt to show for it! Easy road walk back to car at Basin. Great hike! Felt good to do such a long hike early in the season and know that not all fitness from winter is gone...
