Ascent Trip ReportFrom the top of Evans, two of us attemted to summit Mount Bierstadt. The weather was good and we had about 5 hours of daylight left. We went to the top of the Sawtooth Ridge but had trouble finding the trail. We started scrambling down the Sawtooth and found parts of the path beyond what I would consider a Class III scramble. Looking about 50 feet below me I saw a carin and knew something was wrong and that we were definitely not on the trail. We returned to the point where we deviated from the trail, but were tired from the climb and thought it best to abort. We met up with our party at the Bierstadt trailhead to the west.
