Ascent Trip ReportDecided to do the mountaineer's route and absolutely loved it. We started on the trail around 7 - 8 am and hiked up to Iceberg Lake, arrived and set up camp around lunch time. We were planning on summiting the following day, but decided to go straight up the chute. We started around 2 or 3 and made it to the top by 5. There was a forest fire going on North and so there was a little smoke that hazed things.
Got back to camp before it was dark, and read some John Muir while hanging around camp. It was an incredible day.
Next morning got up, and had an enjoyable decent. Took us 3-4 hours to descend.
The "class 3" climbing was borderline 4 in a couple areas and we wish we would have brought helmets a couple times, I don't think ropes are necessary unless someone is absolutely not comfortable with heights.
