Ascent Trip Report

Slept up Half Moon Creek. Woke up around 6 am and were on the trail (north Trail) by 7ish. This hike is "one long slogg" and it just takes time. You start off in the trees for a while and then it comes out and you hike a ridge line up. The hike took us 3:15 - 3:45 to summit. The view from the top is spectacular, so many mountains. We didn't see hardly any wildlife - one elk running over a pass very far away is about it. People tend to overestimate this peak, but all the accounts made it sound like a cinch, this is still a high peak and takes a lot of effort to get to the top. Very enjoyable and our first Fourteener! For those from Utah, this peak feels like a Mount Timp with the amount of people on it. Very enjoyable day.
