Ascent Trip ReportOur first Spring time mountain peak!
What a gorgeous day and wonderful experience!
We (Gudi, Kaekae and I) Went up the Valley Way (the plan was to go veer off and do the Watson Path, but the snow was a bit deeper and the trail a bit more difficult to follow) to the Madison Hut.
We choose to use micro-spikes, which for the most part was a good choice. Just before reaching tree line, the snow was still fluffy and they didn't do as well so it slowed us down a bit.
They were working on the Madison Hut, it sure is looking good.
After a short break, Kaekae and I headed out for the last (very windy and exposed) 500 meters to the peak. Lots of ice to traverse and with the wind (30-40MPH) it made a slow and tricky trip.
It was even more tricky on the way down!
With crystal clear blue skies, this was a great day to be on top!
