Ascent Trip ReportAfter about 19 years not hiking this mountain I decided to try it again with Mark.
For years I had a sour taste in climbing the mountain because of the experience of hundreds of crowded hikers and observing a woman in a dress and high heals balling her eyes out on the summit as, who I would guess, her controlling husband stood by in silence dressed in a suite, tie, and penny loafers watching her.
Avoid the summer crowds! An off season hike redeemed my feelings towards this most hiked summit in the United States. There were only about a dozen hiking parties which I had seen and most appeared to be prepared and aware of safe winter condition hiking. With the limited human interaction I was easily able to enjoy the nature and solitude of the mountain.
