Ascent Trip ReportI hiked with 5 hikers at Franconia Ridge Loop Hike on 3/19/2011. It was cloudy at the beginning of the hike, but, it turned out to be very nice weather. We started hike on Old Bride Path and hike in to Laffayette first. Ken and I put on Microspikes because we saw the snow is very well packed on the trail. The other 3 used snowshoes until the summit of Lafayette. Then, 2 changed to Crampons and 1 changed to Microspikes. Ken and I used Microspikes all the way on the trail and we didn't have so much problem even when we hike down from Lafayette summit on rocky sections w/ ice.
We're relatively strong hiker and we started to hike at 8:20am and ended at 2pm or so. It took less than 6 hours for 9 miles hike.
