Ascent Trip Report

x-country/bushwack ....... 1.8 miles, 2 hours for all the areas.

We are in Jeffersonville I71, Exit65, stuck here for 6 days due to car trouble, in order to keep busy we decided to take in some local County High Points thanks to Jim Van Dykes Auto Center (Washington CH) for the use of a courtesy car.

We drove south on #729, through the town of Sabina, to the intersection with 350/73 (SE of Wilmington).

Area 1 .... We turned right at the intersection and followed 350 west 1 mile to a right turn on Clark Road, then .4 miles to the crest of the road and a white house #656 on the left (no one home). The Highpoint seems to be just to the rear, unsure however if this is natural ground.

Area 2 .... We returned to the intersection noted above and drove south on 350/73 a short distance to the first left on Leeka Road and an immediate left on Levo Road (northeast) for about .5 miles just over the crest of the road (pass a house on the left). This is the TH, at the start of an open harvested field.
Walk southeast along the fence-line (the field to the left, woods on the right) 200 yards to a corner, crossed through a hole in the fence, (I call this spot "A"). A woods track heads southwest in the woods to the high ground at about 150 yards, bushwalk your way around (some thorns), very difficult to identify the high ground. I'm guessing that this area is the highest of the 4 in this area.

Area 3 .... From spot "A" I continued (ascended) southeast along the edge of the field, through a row of trees, 350 yards to high ground (spot "B"), then bushwacked to the right in the woods 40-50 yards, looking for "the" highground for this area. Tough to do.

Area 4 .... From spot "B" I continued southeast along the edge of the field 100 yards to spot "C" ..... straight ahead in the distance is a tall Communication Tower, to the left is Area 5, I turned right and bushwacked/tramped-around (west), around a small water area, 100 yards to high ground. No way did I find "The" highground, fairly dense/thorns, to the south is an open field at 30 yards and a farm house in the distance.

Area 5 .... From spot "C" the highground is 30 yards east in the open field.

Area 6 .... We returned to hwy 350/73 and drove south to New Vienna and a left on 28 where we continued east 1 mile to the Highland County Line, this is the TH, find a place to park. On the left is a row of trees on the County Line, the whole area is open fields.
I hiked northeast on the County Line (on south side of the row of trees) about 600 yards to the highground area. I walked through a row of bushes to the right, highground is in open area.

From here we traveled west to Clermont County.
