Ascent of Turtlehead Junior on 2011-03-12

Climber: Eric Kassan

Date:Saturday, March 12, 2011
Ascent Type:Successful Summit Attained
Peak:Turtlehead Junior
    Location:USA-Nevada
    Elevation:4920 ft / 1499 m

Ascent Trip Report

Turtlehead Jr. has a fairly tough summit block. I ascended through a narrow hole in the west wall of a north-south canyon just east of the summit. I descended through a very tight slot canyon just west of the summit (so tight I could not walk on the ground in parts and needed to chimney). There appeared to be another potential route just south of the summit that would have involved a 12 foot tall 3 foot wide chimney.

Getting to the summit block did not appear difficult as many variations would work.
